This coast has good daytime vegan food, but many kitchens close before an evening walker arrives. Confirm dinner or carry one. Strong anchors are the Ship Inn's vegan-marked menu at Weybourne, French's stated vegan service at Wells, the Lookout's vegan choices at Holkham and the Nest's marked menu at Burnham Deepdale. Cafe Carmel at Bacton is a strong fully vegan lead, with limited days.

Practical vegan planning
Local food worth trying
Buy samphire in season and cook or order it with oil rather than butter. At Wells, Whin Hill sells local apple juice and seasonal cider from its own counter; ask about fining before choosing cider. Norfolk asparagus is worth ordering only when a cafe or shop actually lists it. Duration Brewing states that most of its beers are vegan, while draught beer from other breweries still needs a check.
What to buy
Great Yarmouth, Cromer, Wells, Burnham Deepdale and Hunstanton are the useful resets. Deepdale Stores is especially valuable on the small-village western section. Carry bread or wraps, beans or hummus, nuts, fruit and an evening meal that can be eaten cold. Small coastal shops are good top-ups but cannot be assumed to stock plant milk, chilled protein or a particular national vegan range.
Good places on the trail
Great Yarmouth: Sara's Tearooms publishes a vegan menu. Bacton: Cafe Carmel is supported by many recent vegan reviews as a fully vegan daytime kitchen; check its limited weekly opening. Cromer: the Old Rock Shop Bistro says vegan options are available and asks people with specific requirements to book. Weybourne: the Ship Inn's current menu marks banana-blossom and chips, curry, hummus and a burger vegan or vegan-optional. Cley: the Wildlife Trust cafe confirms vegan choices. Wells: French's says vegan food is available, with a published cut-off before closing; Wells Deli also confirms vegan products. Holkham: the Lookout names a falafel wrap and vegan sausage roll. Burnham Deepdale: the Nest's menu includes a vegan roll, coronation chickpea filling and vegan-sausage breakfast. Thornham and Old Hunstanton have useful secondary leads, but check the day's menu.
Trail treats
At a labelled counter, choose vegan cake or sorbet. Buy local apple juice at Wells without the fining question that applies to cider.
Where to restock
Westbound, shop in Great Yarmouth, then Cromer, Wells and Burnham Deepdale. Buy in Hunstanton or Heacham before the exposed Wash-side finish, where services are sparse. Eastbound, reverse the same sequence and do not leave Wells expecting a full grocery shop in every marsh village. Tide-led arrival times can put daytime cafes out of reach, so keep a lunch and emergency dinner.
Things that may not be vegan
Samphire is often served with butter. Ask about beef dripping at chip shops and, if shared oil matters, ask when you order. Check dairy in mash and pastry, fish stock in soup, and isinglass in cask beer. A seasonal cafe listing does not guarantee it is open on the day.

frenchs.co.ukoperator confirmation, and the biggest single find of this pass: French's Fish Shop on the Quay at Wells states gluten free and vegan are available, stops serving those an hour before closing at 8pm, and opens 11.30am to 8.30pm every day.
